Linking Verbs : Process of Becoming

 

(1) get

• I hope you get well soon. ("네가 빨리 나았으면 좋겠다.")
• My arms are getting tired. ("팔 빠질 것 같아.")

 

(2) turn

• color,  age 등의 변화
• Wait for the light to turn green.
• You're finally turning the big 40.

 

(3) go

• 안 좋은 상태로 변함
• Do you know McDonald's food never goes bad?
• My dog goes crazy when there are other dogs around him.

 

(4) fall

• 빠져들다
• I can't fall asleep when it's this hot.
• My foot falls asleep if I sit like that. (발이 저려)
• My house is falling apart. (허물어져가다)
• I fell in love with my boyfriend at first sight.

 

(5) come

• 이루어지다
• I hope all your wishes come true.
• The party came alive whe the teachers left. (살아나다)

 

(6) grow

• 시간이 흘러 슬슬 변하다
• I love you and I want to grow old with you.
• I'm growing tired of your complaining.

 

(7) run

• 떨어져가는 중
• I'm sorry. I'm running late. (늦겠어)
• What do you mean we're running out of time? (0이 되어감)
• We're running short [of/on] cash.
• We're renning low on beer.

 

(8) become

• ~이 되다( + 명사보어)
• I bacame a father on the weekend.
