- observe and note any unnecessary sounds or overlong pauses 
  made by anyone who speaks in front of the stage
- Sounds may be ah, um, er, or umm. 
- during the evaluation session, report my observations

- present a speech

- monitor time for each meeting segment and each speaker

- demonstrate the sigmnal device when needed

- when called to report, announce the speaker's name and the time taken
